GC Myers is a contemporary painter from the Finger Lakes region of New York. He came to painting in mid-life and quite by accident, as a result of an accident that occurred while building his home in the early 1990’s. Since that time, his recognizable landscapes, known for their strong colors and moods, are avidly collected here and abroad.
Over the years, he has had over 50 one-man exhibitions at galleries across the country which represent his work. These solo exhibits have taken place at galleries in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and California.
In 2012, Myers’ work was featured in an exhibition, Internal Landscapes: The Paintings of GC Myers, at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY.
Welcome to the blogosphere. I particularly like the posts on getting started. Much in common with writers.
I love your work. Powerful, evocative, and moving. In would like to add you to my blogroll (with your permission, of course). Best wishes for the new year and please let me know if I can help you promote your site/work.
Stumbled across your site today and I love the striking images, yours and others. I’ve hit the RSS button, so I’ll be back for more!
I’ll add you to my blogroll also.
How striking and evocative your work is – I especially like the black borders added to your images – bold and emphatic..

Whenever I’m in Alexandria I make a point of stopping into the Principle Gallery to see what you’re up to. Thanks for take the time to post your thoughts on your work – very interesting.

Have to confess I’ve stumbled onto you through Alpha Inventions and just wanted to swing by and say how much your work inspires me.
It touches on something I’m not sure I can actually quantify just yet but I know I want to see more and will spend some time here absorbing your material.
I’d like to add you to my blog links as I’m positive my own humble audience will also find your work as inspiring as I do!

Hola,

Hello,
I saw your artwork in Principal Gallery today. I love your red tree work! You use wonderful colors.
I wrote a blog and mentioned your work and this site. Please feel free to visit.
Thnak you for your kind comments. Your site is so informative for those living and visiting the Alexandria area. Nice work!
It was a pleasure meeting you today at your talk in the Principle Gallery… I mentioned a piece of yours we have with a man in a boat. Anyway, I forgot offer my suggestion to your challenge and propose a name for a future work. Here is my suggestion… I thought it would be very interesting to see a piece of yours named “From Within”.
Thanks again for a great afternoon.
John
It was great meeting you as well. I am going to be doing a post in the future about the titles I received and will mention “From Within”. I have an idea for that title that I think would be a very effective painting. Thanks!
Love your paintings. My daughter just won an art competition that I would love to share with you. Please email me and I’ll send you a photo of her piece that won first place. She is only 16. Interestingly, I was at the museum and they have many works of Alexandre Hogue with much of his works running from Jan 14th to April 3rd. (see http://www.stia.org/index.htm) Your work reminds me very much of some of his work. I love the use of the oils on canvas. Thanks for sharing.
Hey–can’t event begin to retrace my steps here in stumbling on your site–really liked the artwork and just kept reading…here is the major irony–my grandmother, Nadine ferraioli (formerly Myers) is I’m sure a relative (and a longtime curator at the museum) I believe I may have another piece of George’s furniture passed down to her.
Maybe it’s all just 5 am false connections but I can’t believe it to be–anyway, would love to learn more (especially how I can buy a small painting or print) I live in Burlington VT so visiting a gallery isn’t really a possibility. Thanks nick
Your paintings are so luminous at first i thought i was seeing a stained glass window. They really draw you in and warm you up.
I was led here by Carol Simmons ( Master, polymer clay artist, teacher, )

Jan, thanks for the compliment and thanks for the link to Carol Simmons’ site. I’m pleased she used one of my pieces although the color on that particular image is off a bit. A little louder and harsher than the original. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
Hey Gary,
Stumbled upon the link to your blog today while weeding through some very old eMails. Soooo glad to ‘see’ you again on line….as Ed and I ‘see’ you each day in our home (through your paintings, of course). We are *just* begining to settle in (read, set-up your mini-showcase, really) Your work is perfect for the soul!!!
Cindy–
So good to hear from you. I was thinking about you guys recently, wondering how you were. Hope that Ed and you are both doing well.
Quite a few things going on over the last year with the most exciting thing being an upcoming museum exhibition of my work this summer/fall at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY.
Please stay in touch and if you wish, forward your address to info@gcmyers.com and I’ll update you on my mailing list.
Again, good to hear from you, Cindy. Give my regards to Ed and take care———–Gary
I live in Arlington, Virginia but first encountered your work when I passed a gallery in Old Town Alexandria. I immediately fell in love with your paintings. The gallery provided postcard invitations to your openings and because I could not afford to purchase your paintings, I hung a series of these invitations on my wall and looked at them.
Looking at them helped me to visualize the day when I would one day be able to afford to purchase one of your original pieces. I find your work haunting, enchanting, peaceful and mysterious. Your landscapes pull me in and your palette calms me to the point approaching melancholy but suddenly your horizons help my spirit soar.
I was so delighted when I found your blog through BlogSurfer. It was a rare find because I wouldn’t have found your site otherwise. I will definitely become an avid follower of the blog.
Best regards ~ Ayanna Nahmias
At the Fenimore on Friday. So impressed by your work. I could look at the paintings forever and always see something new. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Thanks so much for taking in my work at the Fenimore and for your generous words, Sue. I’m so pleased that my work made an impression.
I, too was just at the Fenimore. A double wonderful surprise. I didn’t know the museum existed and I didn’t know about your paintings. I loved them and left with your book, “In Quiet Places.” I took my time standing before each one and moved closer to see your brushwork. I love the black outlining and how it distinguishes and unifies various elements. Keep at it!
Thanks so much, Beth. It’s always gratifying to have someone connect with work, especially in such an unexpected manner.
All the best to you——Gary
What do you think about MyTree? Can you see the TREEspirit?
Thanks. Pleased to have found your intriguing blog. I look forward to much exploration. Regards from Thom at the immortal jukebox (drop a nickel).
Thom– Thanks for stopping in. Just checked out your site and love it. Your article on Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” was brilliant! I will be reading more. Hope you’ll check back in as well. Thanks!– gary

Sure will Gary. Marvellous how much intelligent and worthwhile work can be found on the blog world. Look forward to back and forth discussions. Regards Thom.
I discovered your art while on a day trip to Corning, NY. I couldn’t afford a painting, but I bought your book. Many of the prints in the book are in frames scattered around my house. Like a roaring fire or a billowing sea, I could stare at your paintings for hours on end. I hope someday to have an original. You do beautiful work.
Thank you so much. I am glad you are enjoying the work and hope you will stay in touch, maybe through my blog at http://www.redtreetimes.com where I often show my work and the process behind it. All the very best wishes to you– GC Myers
Hi… I was curious if the painting “Meet Me In the Garden (At the End of the World) is still available for purchase. If yes I would be interested in pricing information. My wife and enjoy GC Myers work very much and we previously purchased the piece “Keeper of the Wisdom.”
Thank you.
Hello, Christopher–
Thank you so much for your inquiry about “Meet Me in the Garden.” The painting is 24″ by 24″ and is priced at $3000. Yes, it is available for purchase. However, it is to be included in my upcoming show at the Principle Gallery in early June. You could purchase it from them beforehand but it will not be fully ready until that point as the frame (along with other parts of the process such as varnishing) for this painting and others are in the process of being built and won’t be ready until late May.
If you are interested in purchasing the painting, I will get the info to the gallery and you can contact them directly to make arrangements. When it is in hand they will ship it to you. You are in Scottsdale, if I am not mistaken so I doubt that you would be picking it up. You are a friend of Garry Cantliffe, right? I had coffee with him last weekend. Good guy.
Coincidentally, I was just studying an image of “Keeper of the Wisdom” this past week, trying to see how it went together and how the colors worker together. It’s such a strong piece and one that serves as such a good example of my work, that I felt it deserved a closer look. I hope that it is living well with you.
Again, thanks for asking about “Meet Me in the Garden.” If you want, I will get the info to the Principle Gallery and put them in touch with you. Let me know.
All the best– Gary Myers
I was on the email list for posts but my email address must have been dropped. Could you please add me again? Thanks.
Monsieur Myers!
My manager would like to talk to you about the rights to one of your paintings for use as an album cover—I have a record coming out next summer. Would you be willing to be in touch with me over email? miriamATmiriamjones.com
Your work is exuberant!
Internal landscape, eternity, mosaic, vitality, drama, myth, journey…much resonance with what I have been working on musically and lyrically the past five years.
Thank you,
Miriam
