Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.
–Edgar Degas

There are so many days when I feel like I no longer know that I am doing which means, according to Degas, that I am on the right track. Right?

The quotation from Degas reminded me of this great line from E.L.Doctorow: “Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
I presume that might apply to painting, too.
