Why do you so earnestly seek
the truth in distant places?
Look for delusion and truth in the
bottom of your own heart.
― Ryōkan Taigu (1758-1831)

Do the deluded know the truth of who and what they are?
Or has their delusion replaced the truth at the bottom of their heart?
Can truth and delusion coexist within the heart of a person?
Or is truth a form of delusion in itself?
I think if we could figure this out, a lot of the problems of the world might fade away. Well, at least, not not seem quite so dire.
But that’s just the deluded opinion of one person…
While I believe the truth is still there at the bottom of their hearts, it is buried deep beneath layer upon layer of delusion…layers that have been accumulating at a much faster pace of late.
It’s so much easier to believe what you want, than to dig deeper down to the truth.
One of the very few things that he was right about was the need to drain the swamp…but instead of dredging out the silty buildup of our nation’s delusions, he has only accelerated the rate at which the muck had piled up.
I believe that our country realizes that it’s time for them to get the muck out…and I hope I’m not the one that’s being delusional now.
And sometimes the truth is just too big and ugly, and you have to remember the wise words of Mary Tyler Moore’s character when she was at a clown’s funeral and quoted his own words as to how he had always been happy:
“A little song,
A little dance,
A little seltzer
In your pants”
(maybe it works) 😊

Aah, the old “Chuckles the Clown” episode. A favorite and one that always brings a grin. His words, the Clown Credo, might well be worth a try these days.
