There’s a lot to do this morning so I’m a little distracted by my work. So I’ll quickly make quick work of something I meant to mention earlier, last week’s reissue of the Rolling Stones’ 1972 classic LP, Exile on Main Street. I grew up with the Rolling Stones’ early albums and over the years my appreciation for this album has grown time I hear it. Love or hate the Stones, this is great stuff. And it has a great album cover, to boot.
So, even though this is not off this LP, I’m playing their earlier Get Off My Cloud, mainly hoping that that infectious guitar line and defiant chorus will keep me away from simply railing against all the crap that is going on in this world.

Great morning music!
Forever and ever, I’ll see the “rec room” in Bartlett Hall, my first college dorm, when I hear this. We played it over and over and over….
One of these days the assisted living joints and nursing homes are going to be full of geezers in their old tie-dye tees rocking away to the Stones and the Doors and saying, “Listen, honey. They’re playing our song!”
Best concert was seeing the Stones in 72? or was it 74? I don’t remember a lot from that time. But I do remember Stevie Wonder opened for them and they played with the great Nicky Hopkins on piano and Ry Cooder on mandolin. Wow. What a show.
I’m looking forward to this reissue with some new tracks.
They toured the U.S. in June and July of ’72, ending in Madison Square Garden on Jagger’s 29th birthday. There’s a summary with a list of concert dates here:

Thanks, Al. Yes, it was in ’72 in Pittsburgh. Really amazing show.
